Step 4: Place on medium heat. Keep lid open to monitor brewing.
Step 5: When coffee begins flowing into upper chamber and you hear gurgling, remove from heat immediately.
Step 6: Serve immediately for best flavor and temperature.
After Each Use: Allow pot to cool completely. Disassemble all parts. Rinse with warm water only - avoid soap as it affects coffee taste. Dry all components thoroughly to prevent water spots.
Deep Cleaning: Use baking soda and water to remove stubborn coffee oil buildup. Rinse thoroughly. Never use dishwasher as it can damage gasket and finish.
Gasket Maintenance: Replace rubber gasket seal annually or when it becomes hard, cracked, or loses elasticity to maintain proper brewing pressure.
Storage: Store disassembled with parts separated to allow air circulation and prevent moisture buildup and odors.
The 6-cup rating refers to Italian espresso cup size, about 2 oz each. This 300ml pot makes approximately 10 oz total, equivalent to 2-3 standard American coffee cups or 5-6 small espresso servings.
This stainless steel moka pot is designed to be induction-compatible. Test by placing a magnet on the base - if it sticks firmly, it will work on induction. The multi-stove design works on gas, electric, ceramic, and induction surfaces.
Use fine to medium-fine ground coffee, similar to espresso grind but slightly coarser. Too fine causes over-extraction and bitterness, while too coarse produces weak coffee. Experiment to find your preferred strength.
Brewing takes approximately 5-8 minutes on medium heat. You'll hear a gurgling, hissing sound when brewing completes and all water has passed through the coffee grounds. Remove from heat immediately to prevent burning.
Soap leaves residue that affects coffee taste. The coffee oils that build up inside actually season the pot and enhance flavor over time. Simple water rinsing after each use is sufficient. Use baking soda for occasional deep cleaning.
Always use medium or medium-low heat. High heat causes bitter coffee, can damage the pot, and may cause coffee to brew too quickly, resulting in poor extraction. Patience produces better-tasting coffee.
Moka pot coffee is more concentrated than drip coffee but uses lower pressure than espresso machines. It produces rich, strong coffee perfect for drinking straight or as a base for cappuccinos and lattes, though technically not true espresso.
Replace the rubber gasket when it becomes hard, cracked, loses elasticity, or when you notice steam escaping from the sides during brewing. Most gaskets need replacement every 12-18 months with regular use.
